How to Shoot Video in Dark Rooms with Bright Windows
A workshop style course showing you a fast and efficient way of shooting real estate video in dark rooms with bright windows
THE PROBLEM?
One of the biggest hurdles you will face when shooting real estate video is shooting in dark rooms with bright windows.
You will often end up with either over-exposed (blown out) windows and a correctly exposed interior
or
Correctly exposed windows and a massively under-exposed interior!!
THE WORKSHOP
I have put together an online training workshop showing the best methods I have developed from over 20 years of shooting professional video and how to make the best of these tough shooting situations.
I have developed a quick and efficient workflow to maximise these situations without having to bring in extra lights or buy expensive cameras.
((p.s. There is no magic bullet fix but rather a combination of shooting technique and editing workflow to overcome these hurdles))
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- A Description of the problem and a recommended MINDSET for approaching the problem
- 3 APPROACHES to shooting in these difficult scenarios

Hello I'm Grant and I live in the beautiful town of Queenstown, situated in the South Island of New Zealand with my wife and three children. I have been a professional freelance video cameraman for the last 20+ years and have been fortunate to have worked on a wide variety of projects. I cut my teeth shooting news for the two main broadcasters here in New Zealand. Since then I’ve been really lucky to have worked on a diverse range of projects from television reality shows, corporate videos to chasing Crocodile Rangers around the backwaters of Darwin for the National Geographic channel to shooting on a Bear Grylls reality show here in New Zealand.
The largest part of my work in recent years has been shooting real estate video for Agencies, Developers, Building companies and Television.
Shooting and Teaching Real Estate Video is now my full time occupation and an area of video production I really enjoy.
